The cost-benefit ratio from an energy efficiency standpoint is just very bad in the end.
There is not much more to get out of them without incurring serious other penalties. The latest Ryzen 3000 CPUs as well as the latest Intel 10000 CPUs are pretty much working at their natural limit already, due to the intelligent Turbo Boost functions and power saving functions. It will apply too much voltage everywhere (because they needed to make it work with all types of CPUs of varying quality), making power consumption and heat production skyrocket, without actually doing much for performance. The automatic overclocking function for the CPU does more harm than good. I can only warn about them in the strongest possible way.
